Opening / Closing a Grave
The opening/closing of a grave will be scheduled with the Clerk's Department by the deceased's family or a funeral home company. Marine City offers the use of a Chapel for no extra cost to families that wish to have a service at the Cemetery. Graveside Services can be conducted as well, but it is up to the families to coordinate with a Funeral Home or Vault Company to acquire a tent for use during the service. Once all burial arrangements have been made, payment must be received by the City prior to the burial date along with necessary documentation (Burial Transit Permit, Death Certificate, Cremation Certificate). The Fee Schedule can be found on this page and is subject to change pending City Commission approval; Acceptable forms of payment are debit/card cards (convenience fee = 3% of total bill with minimum of $1.50), cash and checks made payable to the City of Marine City.
